Ah, I love this song. coincidentally, I grew up hating it. When I was in elementary school my art teacher was super. I mean SUPER afro-centric. He always had on R&B/Soul/Neo Soul stations or CD’s playing while we would do our artwork and this song would come on EVERY TIME. As a fourth grader, you dont want to hear this at all. The man had the whole look going. Huge afro, dashiki, both hands had the purest west african gold rings on EACH FINGER. None of that western tainted gold. Im talking about the real deal. From that point on I knew he was ‘bout dat life. He was always stressing the importance of black history. All of our art projects consisted of drawing people like Marcus Garvey or Martin Luther King Jr. Guy was a bit militant about that sort of preservation (semi black panther esque). You know how you always get the impression that these kind of people would never date outside of their race? Well yeah, your wrong. Whenever i would see him in public, always had a white lady on his arm (im all for interracial dating, big supporter). But yeah this is what this tune reminds me of.
Also, i love the door creak sound in this tune.
